Called in at Alex Jess for a while, we discussed the strike he told me he overheard some old men on a Public Bench discussing the strike, seeming one of them didn’t have much to say on the subject, and when he left one old boy said to the other ‘Henry, wouldn’t havemuch to say, he was a Scab during the last strike. These men were almost 70 years old, and they were talking about the General Strike in 1926. This emphasises the bitter decisions between working men and how long they’ll last. More local men are returning to work.
